Homework and Readings for 09/16/08 PREPARE FOR Tuesdays’s speed dating or “MAP KINASE FREE-FOR-ALL” o Find a friend in the class to do this with. (Groups of 2 are preferred). We will start Tuesday with the "speed dating" format--you will pair up one-on-one and explain your model and data to one another. You have about 5' to do that...the other person takes about 5' to do it back. Afte 10 minutes, I will ask you to switch partners. After 3 rounds of this, we will reconvene in the super group and have a few people put up their model and data.
Below are some MAP kinase papers. The review won't be good to present, but it might have some other references in it. If you do decide to do one of these, lets announce it to the group on Tuesday so we don't have too much overlap!!! And, by all means, look for something else!!!! Park et al Rewiring MAP Kinase Pathways Science 299, 1061. 2003. Bao et al. Pheromone-dependent destruction of the Tec1 Transcription Factor Cell 119, 991-1000. 2004 Marshall Specificity of Receptor Tyrosine Kinase Signaling Cell 80, 179-185 1995 (Old....) Sabbagh et al. Specificity of Map Kinase Signaling in Yeast Differentiation Involves Transient versus sustained MAPK Activation Mol Cell 8, 683-691. 2001. I don't think the data in here are very convincing, but.... Poritz et al. Graded Mode of transcriptional induction in yeast pheromone signalingÉYeast 18, 1331-1338. 2001. The senior author is very good. This might be interesting for someone to tackle. Suggests ultrasensitivity may not occur in yeast pheromone pathway?? Hmm.
