MCB422: Problem Solving with Genetic Tools

15 minute rule: No conversation should last much longer than 15 minutes. By that time the user should have encompassed some new idea, seen some error of their ways or understood some hint--or we're not helping and should let someone else serve as guide.

No declarative remarks. NEVER 'Try this' or 'do that' unless it is to encourage someone to execute what THEY have just proposed.

Never 'that is wrong, here is why:'. Instead, GUIDE students to that conclusion. Even if that was not what the conversation was 'supposed' to be about, it is important and valid use of the time

NO conversations will be had in the absence of a SKETCH of some sort that shows models under consideration or the process being discussed. Only exception is to address points of information, nomenclature etc.

We will do none of the drawing, clicking, etc. Ever. Unless it is to propose a useful redrawing etc.

Students don't go back 'to see how I did it last time.' If student does not understand it well enough to re-derive or apply to the current situation then figuring out again is valid use of the 15'

Late: Late work is not eligible for re-grading. A penalty may apply for more than 1 week late or for repeated infractions
