The McNair Achievement Program, http://grad.admin.arizona.edu/mcnair/mcnair.html, has more information. This is a program for students who are the first in their family to go to college, who come from a low-income background, or who are underrepresented minorities (i.e., Hispanic, African-American, Native American).

The MARC (Minority Access to Research Careers) Program, http://www.biochem.arizona.edu/marc is geared for junior and seniors. Previous research experience is not required. Applications are taken Feb 1 of your sophomore year. This provides opportunities for "unique research, mentoring, financial and academic opportunity for underrepresented minority students who have interest and potential to pursue careers in biomedical research."
There is tuition support, health insurance and monthly stipend, funding to attend national meetings and much more.
Students must be of an underrepresented minority student (Hispanic, Native American, Black-African-American, U.S. Pacific-Islander [ethnic origins from Hawaii, Guam, Samoa]). US citizenship is required.

Undergraduate Biology Research Program (UBRP): http://www.blc.arizona.edu/ubrp/ Another great opportunity to get into a research lab and get paid for it. Application deadline is February 1. UBRP is not targeted to minorities. Students are paid to work in a laboratory and there are many other events of note.
